What is the Earth Spirit Temple?

In the Spring of 2025, a group of women from Oberlin, OH decided to form a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and start an official non-denominational pagan "church", named the Earth Spirit Temple, that would offer regular ritual services and ceremonies. We began holding small regular ritual circles in the fall of 2025. Our temple is open to all who believe that a Divine Spirit is present within all life and within all of nature. Check out the other pages on this website to learn more about our beliefs and what we offer!
Money collected from our Nurturing the Goddess Within retreat will primarily go to cover the cost of hosting the event itself. Any left over funds will be used to support the new "temple", as we hope to one day build a physical structure we can use for indoor rituals and events. |

What to Bring
The event will take place at Carawood Lake Nature Retreat & Campground, which is where we currently host most of our ritual circles. Most workshops and vendors will be outdoors, though many workshops will occur under tents. We will also be using Carawood Lake's Lodge (which has AC!) throughout the event. Terrain includes paved areas, gravel paths, and natural grasses and trails.
We will have access to the indoor restrooms at Carawood's Lodge, plus the use of their latrines out in the grounds. Refrigerated space for medications is available to those with medical needs.
For Saturday:
- Clothing appropriate for the weather. We will be outside the majority of the time.
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- Bug spray
- Water bottle
- Snacks
- Medications
- Yoga mat or blanket
- Journal & pen (optional)
- Drums or other percussion instruments (optional)
For Overnight Camping:
- Tent & sleeping gear (sleeping bag, pillows, blankets, tarps, tent stakes, hammer, etc.)
- Camp chair
- Change of clothing
- Personal hygiene products
- Medications
- Flashlight
- Lights for camp site
Policies and Liability Waiver
A Policies and Liability Waiver must be signed before you will be allowed to participate in the event. A copy of it's contents are summarized below.
Code of Conduct:
~ Property rules and safety guidelines provided by the Retreat organizers must be followed at all times.
~ Attendees must treat staff, presenters, and other attendees with respect at all times.
~ Other people may have different opinions and beliefs; attempting to impose any spiritual beliefs on others will not be tolerated.
The following disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated:
- Harrassment, hate speech, discrimination, or any form of disruptive or violent behavior
- Unwanted sexual advances or inappropriate behavior towards any attendee
- Damage to property, vandalism, littering, or failure to respect private land
- Excessive noise or disturbances during designated quiet hours
- Any behavior that endangers the safety or well-being of others
- Nudity (clothing is required outside of your tent)
- Failure to comply with staff instructions
Prohibited Items:
To maintain a safe and welcoming environment, the following items are strictly prohibited:
- Firearms and weapons
- Illegal substances
- Pets
- Glass bottles
- Firewood
Alcohol and Substance Use Policy
This event is designed to be a spiritual and community-building retreat, rather than a party festival. The intention is to foster spiritual growth, self-reflection, and community. With this in mind:
- Alcohol and marijuana consumption are permitted only by individuals of legal age (21+).
- Consumption is not permitted during workshops.
- Alcohol and marijuana use must be done responsibly and in moderation and in compliance with current Ohio law.
- Cigarette and cigar butts must be disposed of in designated receptacles.
- Obvious intoxication, drunkenness, or inebriation will not be tolerated.
- The use and possession of illegal substances are prohibited.
